The HYDRODERM trials!!!

Hydroderm lip serum IS a good buy. Yes, it works--but, sadly (as known) the positive effects are only temporary. Maybe even a little TOO temporary! But nevertheless, Hydroderm DOES serve as a temporary way to "plump" your lips!

The Paraffin Dip...easy luxury!!!

My mother, the artist, has been suffering with very dry, sore hands lately.
She's had to manually "work" some natural clay to get it to a consistency suitable for the children she teaches.
Her hands have "dried out" as a result.

She asked me about coming down to the beauty school (where I am an instructor) for a paraffin dip.
Just them it dawned on me that I have a paraffin bath!
(SHE got it for me for Christmas one year!!!)
So, today, early this AM, I got the wax bath out, and plugged it in.
It took about five hours for the wax to melt, but by the time she arrived--with lunch, no less--the wax was melted, fragrant and just BEGGING for a set of hands to be dipped in it!!!

Lip Plumping glosses! I am HOOKED!!!

I have made it known, to any and all who will listen, that as soon as I get my tax return back, I am getting BoTox between my eyes, and/or Collagen (injections) in my lips.

I am in NO hurry to "age gracefully," and although my "wrinkles" are few, if any, I certainly DON'T want any!!!

And, besides...didn't my lips used to look fuller???

WELL, I CANNOT have THIS! I want fuller lips, and I don't want to wait for the government to give me MY money back to do something about it!
SO...I went on the hunt for lip-volumizing products...

While waiting for my "Hydroderm" order to arrive, I settled on the uber-smooth, Rimmel lip-plumping gloss, in "Bossy."

Want Madonna's "Diamond & Mink eyelashes"? Here's a SECRET!!!

Ah, Madge. The Material Mom. Pop-songtress, Kabbalah enthusiast.

Love her or hate her, the woman in a STYLE chameleon!

In the '80's, when she sported ratty hair, black lace gloves, red-lipstick and rubber bracelets, multitudes of young ladies followed suit. (I am guilty!)

In the '90's when she glammed up (or down?) a bit and appeared to be a cross between a "club-kid" and a Dominatrix, many more, again, followed suit. (Club-kid, maybe--but I don't think I ever looked like a Dominatrix!)

She sets the stage...and we follow.

A humorous look at hairdresser etiquette...

This may seem like a bit of a "no brainer," but seriously:
Hairdressers DO NOT like it when you CHEAT on them!!!

And I know this, HOW??? Because I AM a hairdresser, and yes, admittedly, I've had clients CHEAT.

In some cases, it can be forgiven: maybe they were out of town, or maybe I was unavailable.

In OTHER cases, though--it's harder to overlook. Like the other day...

A FRIEND who is also a client recently cheated.

Update Your Look In 3 EASY Steps!

It’s entirely too easy to get stuck in a "rut" fashion and image-wise. It’s especially easy to do because most of us are not focused on being fashion icons, and rather, are more focused on the important things in life: Family and career! Who has the time to stand by, waiting for the each month’s fashion magazines to come out? Most of us do not (and simply can not) go shopping for new additions to our wardrobes each time the season changes. Admittedly, though, it is nice to stay in style, even if only somewhat. In fact, there are instances in life when a fashion update is quite helpful. Times like job interviews, or promotions; vacations and major life events often times call for a new outfit, or a trip to the stylist. This, as we all know, can become expensive. Wouldn’t it be better to update your look, in more than one area (i.e., hairstyle AND a new outfit, etc., etc.) for as little time and money as possible? Now, it can be done, with ease!

So, you wanna go "blonde," ?

This topic has surfaced a LOT, lately, and I always find myself saying the same things over and over.

GOING BLONDE is SOMETIMES not an easy thing to do!

It's easy to think that it is--just look at people like Lindsay Lohan. She's normally a cute little redhead, but in recent days, we've seen her sporting long flowing blonde locks. What most people don't know is that it took a continuous process spanning several DAYS to get Lindsay the perfect shade of platinum blonde--and that was using the BEST products, and a whole team of top-notch stylists. (Not to mention that it cost her well into the QUADRUPLE digits.) Most folks don't have thousands of dollars lying around, and weeks at a time set aside for blonding our tresses.

The "Scrunchie" isn’t IN, anymore?!!

Tell me it ISN’T so. I’ve heard it from SEVERAL very reliable sources, now: one, a well-known fashion magazine, and the another, a very fashionable nineteen-year-old girl. BOTH have confirmed to me, much to my chagrin, that the popular fabric and elastic hair tie is no longer "in." I, for one, do not concur.

Okay. It’s true that SOME people—not me—have worn scrunchies on nearly every occasion, which, I am sure, has contributed to their fashion demise. Scrunchies are NOT to be worn for formal or semi-formal occasions, even if they are made out of satin, lace, or some other non-knit material. (When they were first introduced to us, about two decades ago, this practice may have been acceptable. In recent years, though, wearing a scrunchie in your hair for dress-up events, has become a big no-no, unless you want to look like a fashion victim.) Scrunchies belong in your hair when: you are at the gym; when you are hanging out near water, i.e. a lake, beach, pool, on a boat, etc.; when your are scrubbing the bathroom, doing laundry, vacuuming the rug, and doing various other chores, like gardening, washing the dog—or car—or even when using the computer. (There is a scrunchie in my hair as I type this! I admit it, and I feel no shame!) Scrunchies MAY belong in your hair if you want to tie your hair back when running out quickly, for coffee. They MAY belong in your hair if you are doing other errands, in which wearing a cute ponytail is the remedy for hair that you haven’t washed for the day. The can also be utilized if you are cooking dinner and simply want to whisk your hair away from the food. The beauty of the scrunchie is that you can quickly put it in, then take it out, having left no "lines" or, as I like to call them "boops," in your otherwise straight hair. A regular hair elastic always leaves a "boop" in my hair. This is why the scrunchie will never die, with me. It is also the inspiration for my personal "Bring Back The Scrunchie" campaign. I have initiated my battle by, not just WEARING my scrunchies to work out, or on an errand, or while I’m on the computer—but by BUYING new scrunchies to display in my pony-tail at work, or while grabbing a bite to eat, or wearing to an assembly at my son’s school. I still wear a scrunchie to bed, at night also. (When you’re at war, you’re at war, 24 hours a day!)
