Getting past the Winter Blues

I know it has been a while, but I must confess: I have had a case of the "Winter Blues." Here in North America, it is cold in most places; there is cloud cover virtually everyday. It makes it very difficult to have the gusto needed to get through ones daily routines. I have come up with a couple of things that have helped me some and perhaps they can help you too.

Try aromatherapy. I don't mean simply getting special oils to burn or candles. I'm talking about going out and getting a great fragrance that reminds you of Spring and Summer; fun and frolick. Escada has some great fragances that are tropical and fruity. I think any white floral or oriental/woody fragrance is a great pick me up. The same can be said for the lotion as well. I nice perfumed lotion with a little bit of sparkle can lift anyones spirits.

A Philosophy of Beauty

What is Beauty?

We don't give enough thought to this question today. Most of our lives revolve around fitting into the relative context around us and we don't think at all about what is at the core of beauty. I want to find out "what is beauty?" so that I can really appreciate beauty in all it's various forms and manifestations. I want to move away from superficial ideas of beauty that reside in primitive call and response patterns, this is the type of understanding that we most often call beauty. When a man puffs out his chest and we begin to blush, not from embarassment but from excitement. Or when a woman wears that hot dress that she is bursting forth from and all the men in the room are frothing at the mouth for a chance. These are but mere relative contexts in which a conditional response is given to a conditioned posturing, this is a dance of superficial aires.
