Our First Botox Party

Botox Story:

My husband, Dr. Alex Kaplan, is a doctor specializing in aesthetic medecine. We hosted our first Botox party last week and it went very well. We invited several close friends and neighbors who were interested in receiving Botox. I was in charge of having the guests fill out all of the required paperwork and consent forms (the same ones any patient would fill out if they came to my husband's clinic.) My husband gave a brief talk about Botox, its history, benefits and risks. He then met with each "patient" individually privately for their free consultation and if he/she decided to get Botox, he gave the treatment right then and there. The room was safe and clean and he had all the same supplies that he keeps at the clinic. We got very positive feedback from all of the attendees and everyone had a lot of fun! Future Botox parties will be held at a patient's home and then he or she would get Botox at a significant discount or free in exchange for he/she hosting the party and inviting guests. A Botox party is a great way for people who are curious about Botox (or already get it) to learn about it and get treatment in a relaxed setting with friends. This is my story about getting botox injections. I knew I needed to get something done about my frown wrinkles when my 8 year old asked, "Mommy, we are you always unhappy?" This blew my mind. "Sweetie, I'm almost always happy when I'm around you! Why do you think I'm not?" Her response: "Because your eye brows are all scrunched up."

The real story behind botox is average, common and even banal. The average woman experiences no moderate or severe side effects from the simple injections, if anything she feels the prick of a needle and the stab of disappointment that she cannot be the youthful looking young woman she once was. The title pretty much gives away my feelings about botox, but I want to tell you my story anyway.

When I was 18 and wrinkle free (naturally) I was hardly care-free. I just wanted to add my two-cents about the so-called 'botox craze'. I'm just over 50 and I got my first injections in 2004 to help with some pretty deep (at least in my mind) creases between my eye-brows. And I have to say it worked like a charm.

I recently attended a so-called 'botox party' at the ugring of a close friend. As we pulled up to the house where everyone was meeting I thought to myself "oh-my-god what am I doing here, I don't know this guy who is doing the injections, I don't really know where I am and I don't really know what I want" After a few minutes I calmed down and managed to walk all the way up to the entrance to quite a nice home in the hollywood hills.
