Getting past the Winter Blues

I know it has been a while, but I must confess: I have had a case of the "Winter Blues." Here in North America, it is cold in most places; there is cloud cover virtually everyday. It makes it very difficult to have the gusto needed to get through ones daily routines. I have come up with a couple of things that have helped me some and perhaps they can help you too.

Try aromatherapy. I don't mean simply getting special oils to burn or candles. I'm talking about going out and getting a great fragrance that reminds you of Spring and Summer; fun and frolick. Escada has some great fragances that are tropical and fruity. I think any white floral or oriental/woody fragrance is a great pick me up. The same can be said for the lotion as well. I nice perfumed lotion with a little bit of sparkle can lift anyones spirits.

Another thing you can do is the leave the black in your closet. That's right, where bright colors. You can be sunshine on a cloudy day; the warmth in the middle of a chilly breeze.  Shades of yellow, orange, pink and green are very daring during this time of year. Try to incorporate these colors into your wardrobe every day.  Also, add one piece of funky, tropical inspired jewelry: a shell necklace, beaded bracelet or gold/silver bangles.

For your makeup, experiment with a light, sheer bronzer or sparkling eyeshadow. Play with funky color combinations. Be daring, be bold. Don't be afraid of color, embrace it. I rarely leave the house without a fruity smelling lip gloss and fun blush. I never know when I may need a "tropical" pick me up.

So, if you are not the typical "Snow Bunny" and long for the heat of Spring and Summer try these tips and before to long it'll be Summer again!

Peace Out
